PhonefrenziProject: branding, web site strategy and design, copywriting, content management system With many hundreds of mobile phones and a huge variety of contracts to choose from, how can you make it easy for people to identify the perfect phone for their needs, complete with the best deal for their budget? That was the challenge online mobile phone experts phonefrenzi set us when they asked Flare to design a website for their new online phone comparison business. Rather than just throw concepts at our client, a Flare creative team and the phonefrenzi team got together for an intensive half-day brainstorming session, hosted and facilitated by us. During this meeting we used proven workshop techniques to define objectives and identify a viable approach to achieve them. Then our team retired to the Flare design studio to turn the agreed strategy into reality. You’ll find the result of our labours at www.phonefrenzi.co.uk – a lively, colourful and user-friendly comparison website that is light on words but heavy on helpfulness. Information overload is a big potential problem with comparison websites, so to assist site visitors in narrowing down their options we created six contrasting mobile phone user personas. By choosing the lifestyle closest to their own and then ticking a few boxes relating to their specific needs, site visitors can very rapidly view a selection of the most appropriate phones, together with ratings, reviews and available deals. This makes the whole search process simple, efficient and virtually effortless – and simplicity is essential, because there are nearly 250,000 individual deals available on the website! There’s a lot of useful information on the website, to help people who want to know a little bit more about things such as types of handsets, touch screens and networks. And there’s also a handy glossary that explains mobile phone jargon in plain English. Apart from helping site visitors, this type of added value on a website is good for search engine optimisation and helps to drive more traffic to the website. |
